The Presidency has accused Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, of engaging in “irresponsible politics” and failing to prioritize the welfare of his constituents, many of whom it described as among the most impoverished in the country.

In a strongly worded statement released Friday morning by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the Presidency expressed disappointment over Governor Mohammed’s alleged preoccupation with political grandstanding instead of addressing the pressing challenges facing Bauchi State.

“Governor Bala Mohammed is playing irresponsible politics instead of addressing the numerous challenges facing Bauchi State.
“The people of his state, who still rank among the most impoverished Nigerians, deserve better leadership and governance,” the statement read.

The Presidency further criticized Governor Mohammed for allegedly diverting attention from critical state issues by targeting the administration of President Bola Tinubu. It noted that while President Tinubu remained focused on implementing reforms to drive national development and economic recovery, Governor Mohammed appeared more interested in using the federal government as a “diversionary tool.”

The statement challenged Governor Mohammed to reflect on his achievements in improving the lives of Bauchi residents.

“President Tinubu has a national mandate to deliver on his promises, and Nigerians are already seeing the positive impact of his reforms. Meanwhile, the question for Governor Bala Mohammed is simple: what is he doing to make life better for the people of Bauchi State? Has he utilized the increased resources at his disposal to improve their quality of life?”

The statement also emphasized President Tinubu’s dedication to fostering collaboration with state governments and stakeholders to enhance Nigerians’ well-being. It warned that any attempts to undermine the federal government’s reform agenda were “self-serving” and “undemocratic.”

Governor Bala Mohammed has yet to respond to the Presidency’s allegations as of the time of filing this report.
