The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced plans to commence the recruitment of cadets and 30,000 constables into the Nigeria Police Force in 2025.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations for the PSC, said preparations for the large-scale recruitment exercise have been finalized. As part of its readiness, the commission is seeking strategic partnerships to ensure a transparent and credible process.

The Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Hashimu Argungu, led a PSC delegation on a working visit to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) in Abuja. The purpose of the visit, according to the statement, was to foster collaboration in ensuring that only eligible and credible individuals are enlisted into the Force.

Argungu emphasized the importance of data integrity in the recruitment process, noting that with reliable and protected data, comprehensive background checks can be conducted on applicants.

“Data rules the world today,” he said. “With accurate and protected information, we can plan effectively and guarantee that thorough background checks are conducted on all prospective recruits. We are here to fortify the commission’s recruitment process and seek your cooperation to make it a success.”

He also disclosed that the recruitment process for cadets and the 30,000 constables approved annually by President Bola Tinubu would commence shortly.

The PSC’s partnership with the NDPC is expected to enhance the integrity of the recruitment process, ensuring that the Nigeria Police Force is strengthened with disciplined and competent personnel.
