In a significant move to enhance education in Yobe State, the North East Development Commission (NEDC), in partnership with the Yobe State Government, launched a five-day workshop on May 26, 2025, aimed at training 600 teachers and administrators from across the state’s basic and secondary schools.
The intensive workshop will focus on empowering educators with modern teaching techniques, emphasizing Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Agriculture (STEMA) methodologies. The goal is to elevate teaching standards and improve learning outcomes not only within Yobe but also across the broader North East region.
Prof. Abba Idris Adam, Commissioner for Yobe State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, emphasized that the training would tackle key challenges within the education system, equipping teachers with evidence-based methods to become more inclusive, learner-centered, and technologically adept.
Commending NEDC’s efforts, Prof. Adam highlighted the Commission’s pivotal role as a development partner, playing a vital role in the education recovery and growth of Yobe and the entire North East region.
In his address, Mohammed Goni Alkali, Managing Director and CEO of NEDC, reaffirmed the Commission’s ongoing support for educational advancements in Yobe and beyond. Represented by NEDC State Coordinator Prof. Ali Ibrahim Abbas, Alkali confirmed that the Commission is training 600 teachers across Yobe’s three senatorial zones, complementing the state government’s efforts in transforming education.
Lead Consultant, Prof. Musa Alabe of Xascony Engineering, encouraged participants to view the workshop as an investment in their professional growth, promising that the program would be led by skilled experts who will help build their capacity and innovative teaching practices.
This workshop underscores NEDC’s commitment to strengthening the educational landscape in the North East, ensuring that teachers are equipped to provide high-quality education for future generations.
