Residents demand investigation as fear grows over rising insecurity in Yobe town
A middle-aged woman identified as Falmata was on Friday morning found dead by the roadside near the Federal University, Gashu’a, in Yobe State.
Residents who discovered the lifeless body said the incident has thrown the community into deep shock. The woman was reportedly dumped along the road in the early hours of the morning before passersby alerted the security authorities.
“Nobody knows who killed her or where she was taken from. We only found her lifeless body dumped by the roadside,” a resident told Maidawa Arewa.
Another resident who identified the deceased described her as a peaceful and hardworking woman.
“I know her very well. She sold food at the motor park and the vegetable market here in Gashu’a. She never had issues with anyone,” the source said.
The tragic discovery has sparked renewed calls from locals urging the Yobe State Government and security agencies to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.
Community members also raised concern over what they described as a disturbing rise in strange killings across Yobe communities, urging authorities to intensify patrols and enhance surveillance around residential and public areas.
As of press time, police authorities and university security officials were yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
