Tragic Road Crash Claims 9 Lives, Injures 11 in Jigawa

At least nine people have been confirmed dead and 11 others injured in a fatal head-on collision that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The spokesman of the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to Journalists.

According to the statement, the accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. and involved two Golf 3 saloon cars. One of the vehicles, with registration number MKA 687 AY and driven by Adamu Sunusi from Hadejia LGA, was reportedly travelling from Abuja to Gujungu town. The second vehicle, with registration number KWL 606 KA and driven by Bashari Danjummai of Sauna, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, was heading from Hadejia to Kano when the vehicles collided head-on.

“As a result of the collision, nine people, including both drivers, died on the spot or shortly after,” the statement said. The injured were rushed to Ringim General Hospital, where the deaths were confirmed by attending medical personnel.

SP Adam noted that a post-mortem examination was carried out and the remains of the deceased have been handed over to their families for burial. He added that efforts are ongoing to fully identify all victims and inform their next of kin.

The eleven surviving passengers are receiving treatment and are reported to be responding well.

Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP AT Abdullahi, expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and extended prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.

He also used the opportunity to appeal to motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, avoid speeding, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy to prevent future tragedies.
