After six years, Gov. Zulum reopens cattle market in Borno

Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno has re-opened Gamboru Cattle Market after 6 years of closure due to Boko Haram crisis.

Gamboru, a border town between Cameroon and Nigeria, is the headquarters of Ngala Local Government of Borno.

 

 

The market is one of the biggest livestock markets and sources of revenue in the state, with customers coming from as far as Cameroon and Chad.

Gov. Zulum, in his speech, thanked Almighty God for giving his government opportunity to re-open the market.

He said: ‘with the glory of Allah and for the benefits of mankind, we re-opened Gamboru Cattle Market for business.’

He urged the businesspeople and the community to cooperate with security agencies and abide by the rules and regulations laid down by the law of the land.

At the event, the governor also assured the people to start construction of the Maiduguri – Gamboru Ngala Road next year for easy transportation of goods and services.
