OPINION: The Bandits And My Homeland :Nigerian Highways

Since I can’t pay for the route above, I must go below for the journey by land is what average Nigerians like I undertake else I will have to splash my generational earnings on a flight ticket.
My journey has always been smooth: it was until now.
Now the scenario is a horror.
But before then, our only fears as Nigerians was vehicles colliding and blood spilling either out of recklessness or when death uses accidents as baits.
They say blood speaks…. I guess not for Nigerians or are we so defiled?
We see our clan maimed by our clan
If I had the guns and the wit, I would load it and empty it on the ones inhabiting the Sambisa.
They say bandits. We hear unknown gun men. Some say insurgents but I see People killing people and the ones abducted, should we termed them as lucky?
So when next am using a typical Nigerian Highway, I say my last prayers for the journey might be my last and if it isn’t, I thank the creator that the gentlemen of the highway didn’t show up for business.
Should we battle the outlaws overtaking the home of peace or resolve to fighting the ones taking over our roads?
There is so much to deal with in this country….. We have the inflation rising like the sun each day.
You’ve barely eaten talk more of being secure.
We dare not stop traveling. We need to trade, we need to feed and even when we stay, they come into our abodes, raze our lifetime entitlements in seconds and flee with our kindred.
So we wait on the ones we entrust our lives into. But then, what more can we do other than waiting after all, they show up when the bodies turn to ashes.
We pray. We always pray.
They slay. The BANDITS always slay.
