Gov. Buni Orders Immediate Closure of Boarding Schools in Yobe Over Security Concerns

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has directed the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools across the state as part of proactive measures to ensure the safety of students.

The directive was announced in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Bukar Aji Bukar.

According to the statement, the decision follows recent security concerns in parts of the country and the government’s commitment to protecting the lives and future of schoolchildren.

“Due to the recent security challenges we are facing in the country and the need to protect the lives and future of our younger ones, the Government of Yobe State, under the leadership of His Excellency, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, has directed that all boarding secondary schools in the state be closed with immediate effect,” it read.

The statement added that the schools will resume academic activities as soon as there is a significant improvement in the security situation.

Principals of the affected schools have been instructed to ensure full compliance with the directive.
