The Borno State Police Command has launched a manhunt for four unidentified cattle herders who allegedly attacked a farmer with a machete in Kurnari Village, Felo community of Gubio Local Government Area.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the incident via X (formerly Twitter), the attack occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, August 2. The victim, 30-year-old Modu Kyellu, was reportedly working on his millet farm when the herders led their cattle into his farmland.
Eyewitnesses said that when Kyellu tried to drive the animals away, one of the herders struck him with a machete, inflicting a deep cut on his left cheek before the group fled the scene.
In response, personnel from the Gubio Divisional Police Headquarters, accompanied by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the area and initiated documentation of the incident.
