Emir of Damaturu Calls for Peace, Unity, and Development at Durbar Festival

The Emir of Damaturu, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al-Min Elkanemi, has called on citizens to embrace peace, unity, and collective progress.

Delivering his message during the Durbar Festival held at his palace on Friday, June 6, 2025, the Emir emphasized the vital role of harmony and mutual respect in fostering a thriving society.

He urged the people to remain prayerful, disciplined, and obedient in their daily lives, stressing that these values are essential to building a peaceful and cohesive community. His Royal Highness also encouraged citizens to demonstrate love, compassion, and solidarity by being their brother’s keeper.

Highlighting education as a cornerstone of development, especially for the younger generation, the Emir described it as a powerful tool for shaping a better future. He further called for respect for elders, active support for community-driven initiatives, and strengthened cooperation across all sectors of society.

In his concluding remarks, the Emir offered prayers for enduring peace, prosperity, and the continued growth of Damaturu, Yobe State, and Nigeria as a whole. He also sought divine guidance and protection for the nation’s leaders and citizens, and the reinforcement of unity among the people.
