In yet another show of resilience and superior firepower, Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled an attempted infiltration by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar Local Government Area in Borno State.

The failed assault occurred around 8:45 p.m. today, according to multiple military sources.

“Alhamdulilah, they were pursued by the Nigerian military with superior fire,” a security source told Yerwa Express News, confirming that the terrorists were overwhelmed and forced to retreat under heavy fire.

This is not the first time ISWAP fighters have attempted to breach military defenses in Damasak. However, recent efforts have met stiff resistance from well-prepared Nigerian forces.

“We’ve been expecting this. They can no longer take us by surprise, we are ready at all our locations,” a senior military officer said. “Just like what happened in New Marte, I assure you, we will fry them in any of their attacks.”

The incident underscores the military’s improved readiness in the region and its commitment to neutralizing threats as they emerge.

In a recent interview, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno reaffirmed his confidence in the Nigerian Armed Forces, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to provide the military with additional equipment and support in response to the rising tide of insurgent activity in the North East.

With increased coordination and sustained operations, security forces continue to demonstrate their resolve in reclaiming and securing territories long targeted by insurgents.
