Gov Buni Flags Off Sale of Subsidise Rice to 6,000 Civil Servants in Yobe

In effort to cushion the effects of rising food prices, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has directed the immediate commencement of subsidised rice sales to civil servants across the state, in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope initiative led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A total of 6,000 bags of 50kg rice have been delivered to Yobe State as part of this intervention. Governor Buni has mandated that the rice be sold directly to verified state and federal civil servants at a subsidized rate of ₦40,000 per bag.

In a meeting chaired by Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam, Rtd, Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor, alongside the Yobe State Head of Service, was held to finalize the logistics for fair and transparent distribution.

Participating agencies in the monitoring and verification process include: Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) EFCC, ICPC, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, NEMA, SEMA, Nigerian Police Force, NSCDC Agro-Rangers, Office of the Yobe State HOS and Office of the Security Adviser to the Governor

The rice will be distributed through Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), under the coordination of the Office of the Head of Service in collaboration with civil service unions. Civil servants are required to present valid office ID cards and their National Identification Number (NIN) for screening and verification at the SEMA office.

According to the approved distribution formula: 70% (4,200 bags) are earmarked for State Civil Servants and the Organized Private Sector, 30% (1,800 bags) will go to staff of Federal MDAs and parastatals operating in Yobe State.

More information on distribution schedules will be communicated by individual MDAs through official channels.
