Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has called for strengthened collaboration between the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force to intensify the war against terrorism and related crimes across the country.

Governor Buni made the appeal on Tuesday while receiving the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Damaturu.

“The issue of security is a collective responsibility,” Buni stated. “We will do everything possible to support the military and other security agencies in their mission to protect lives and property. The government and good people of Yobe will continue to stand by you.”

The Governor lauded the Nigerian military for its dedication and resilience, especially in restoring relative peace to parts of the North East.

In his remarks, Lt. Gen. Oluyede reaffirmed the army’s commitment to deploying additional troops and equipment to Yobe State to bolster the ongoing security efforts.

He urged Nigerians to provide the military with credible information that can aid security operations, stressing that community cooperation remains vital in defeating terrorism.

“We cannot allow the Sahara experience to take root in our country,” the Army Chief warned. “As someone who once served as a commander here and witnessed peace return to Yobe, I cannot sit back and watch that hard-earned peace eroded.”

The meeting signals renewed synergy between government and military leadership, with hopes of building on recent successes and ensuring lasting peace across Yobe and the broader region.
