Vigilante operatives from Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested seven suspected logistics suppliers for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Lamisheri, Gujba Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State.

The arrest was disclosed in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X on Monday.

According to the report, the suspects were intercepted while attempting to deliver three motorcycles to ISWAP fighters operating within the Timbuktu Triangle, a notorious insurgent stronghold in the North East.

Security sources cited in the report revealed that logistics supply chains, including the smuggling of motorcycles, fuel, food, and weapons, have played a crucial role in sustaining insurgent activities in the region.

“In many cases, security forces have neutralized or repelled insurgents, only for them to regroup with the help of collaborators who provide fresh supplies and escape routes,” a security source stated.

Informants embedded within local communities are believed to be facilitating these operations by providing intelligence to terrorists, aiding their movements, and ensuring they receive critical supplies.

The continued activities of these collaborators, sources say, have prolonged the insurgency and undermined military efforts to restore stability in the region.

The Nigerian military has repeatedly emphasized that disrupting ISWAP’s supply network is key to weakening the group’s operational capacity.

“The arrested suspects are currently in custody for further investigation,” he added.
