The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has said that his government is implementing policy that will ensure the return of all Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) back to their respective communities with dignity.

Gov. Buni said this in a panel discussion on Tuesday, at the 5th Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum, holding in Borno State’s capital, Maiduguri.

He said resettling IDPs to their ancestal homes needs a strategic approach, noting that the will of the IDPs most equally be respected.

“Some of the IDP don’t want to go back because they’ve seen a new life in the city, something they never not experienced before and are not willing to go back to their former communities, that is also a problem.

“Nobody chose to be an IDP, with the support of our partners and donors we will ensure we return those who are willing to go back to their respective communities with dignity,” Buni said.
