Police recover dead body of suspected fuel thief in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has made several arrests in a recent operation focused on tackling crime in Maiduguri and surrounding areas.

ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command’s spokesperson in a statement disclosed today.

He said, among others, a dead body of a suspected fuel thief recovered in the state.

He was found inside an NNPC underground fuel tank after reportedly attempting to siphon fuel with a rope and bucket.

In a separate operation, the police team responded to a report from Yahaya Tahir and four others alleging an assault at their residence.

The arrested suspects Mohammed Mamman, Sabo Abubakar and five unidentified individuals from Baga Road allegedly attacked the victims with sticks, axes, hammers, and knives, injuring their victims.

The injured were taken to the hospital.

Police also arrested two suspects for vandalizing an a transformer and stealing cables in Khaddamari, near Madinatu Junction.

ASP Daso said thirty yards of stolen cable were recovered during the investigation.

Command assured the public of their unwavering pursuit of criminals, emphasising their dedication to the safety and well-being of Borno residents.
