Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum has flagged off educational support fund initiated by Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume.

He was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur at the event which held at the University of Maiduguri today.

Ndume’s program is meant to provide educational support of N20, 000 to everyone of 1, 100 students who study at the university, from his constituency.

The governor pledged to also donate N10m to the fund in its next round, after praising Sen. Ndume for his thoughtful intervention in improving the lives of his constituents.

Prof. Aliyu Shugaba, vice chancellor of the university also appreciated the lawmaker for his contribution towards supporting poor students who cannot deal with the new increment in school fees.

He also called on other lawmakers to replicate the good work across their constituencies.

Junaid Jibril Maiva, coordinator of Ndume Education Support Fund, said the program originated from the lawmaker’s concern to assist the less privileged.

Previously the fund doled out N10, 000 per each of 1, 000 students, hundred short of this year’s.

The beneficiaries expressed their profound gratitude to Sen. Ndume and committed to using the funds for their intended educational purposes.
