Marketers have continued to count their losses after a fire outbreak at Gubio Central Market in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno.

Report shows how over 20 shops were affected by the incident this morning. The inferno occurred at about 01:00 am.

A resident of the town, Yusuf Zarami, told our reporter via a phone call that the affected shops are a total of 24. All them sell foodstuffs or clothing materials, given that they are items more vulnerable to fire.

Victims in the market could not be immediately reached for their comments. But our source explained that the source of the outbreak could be a solar installation in one of the shops. Shops in the market, as in many other parts of the LGA, are not connected to the national grid.

As such some shop owners install solar systems or use generators to power their shops. The incident occurred midnight after the market was closed. But upon realizing that it was gutted with fire, residents trooped out to put it out.

Details shortly…
