Yobe State Police Command has banned the use of tinted glasses and covered number plates by motorists in the state.

The ban was contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim.

According to the statement the Command also banned overloading by Keke Napep riders in the state, noting that the act is a large contributor to the crime and accident-related offences.

“Intelligence reports indicate that people with dubious characters hide behind tinted glasses to perpetrate crime, thereby concealing their identity from security operatives and good members of the public”, the Command said.

The Command warned that operatives will not hesitate to bring perpetrators to book when they are caught.

“The Commissioner of Police, therefore, gave all police formations and Divisional Police Officers across the state a marching order to arrest and prosecute motorists who violate any of the traffic regulations with effect from Monday 10th July 2023”, the statement said.

In the statement, the State Commissioner of Police admonished motorists and other road users to adhere to all laid down traffic regulations and shun drugs while driving.

He also urged them to cooperate with security agencies in the state for the maintenance of law and order
