Between January and April 2023, oil and gas firms doing business in Nigeria flared 92.3 million standard cubic feet of gas, or mscf, estimated to be worth N150.8 billion.

A recent report from the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) included the statistic.

In comparison to the 50.3mscf of gas flared in 2022, it represents an increase of 79.5%.

The oil-producing companies in charge of this flaring are thus anticipated to pay fines of $184.6 million (equal to N85.7 billion) for violating the regulations against gas flaring over the course of four months.

The research also said that the amount of gas flared over the course of four months emitted 4.9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide and had a 9,200 gigawatt-hour potential for power generation.

According to the study, monthly gas flared amounts were 23.2 mscf, 27.1 mscf, 25.9 mscf, and 16.1 mscf in January, February, March, and April, respectively.

  1. I was curious if you ever thought of changing the layout of your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?

  2. I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.
