A man identified as Moses Olapade has reportedly beaten his wife, Tinuke Olapade, to coma for refusing to hand over a television remote to him.

The incident occurred at their residence, No. 9, Odama street in Oke-Aro area of Akure in Ondo State.

According to sources, Olopade, who is a truck driver, returned from a journey on the day of the incident and wanted to watch a programme on the television.

He reportedly asked his 44-year-old wife to hand over the TV remote to him but she refused.

Olopade, out of anger, beat her until she fell down and became unconscious.

The source hinted that it took the timely intervention of neighbours to save the woman, adding that “the children ran out screaming for help” before she was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

“The woman was found lying unconscious by neighbors who rushed her to the hospital.

“The matter was reported to leaders of the community, who called the police and arrested Olapade”, the neighbor said.

The Ondo State police has not confirmed the incident as of the time of filing this report.
