A video has emerged showing the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari, being harassed by a party agent.

MAIDAWAAREWA reports that the party agent reportedly attacked the Adamawa REC for announcing a winner of the election without collating results.

Recall that Ari had stoked controversy in the state’s governorship election on Sunday after declaring All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Aishatu Binani, as the winner of the supplementary governorship election.

His announcement elicited protests from members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) present at the state collation centre in Yola.

Also, in a statement by its National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, the Independent National Electoral Commision (INEC) said the process had not been concluded.

It added that the action of the REC was a usurpation of the powers of the state Returning Officer (RO) and was therefore null, void and of no effect.
