Borno police loses two constables in road accident

Borno State Police Command has lost two female police constables in a fatal road accident at Hawa Kibo, Plateau.

Seventeen others sustained various degrees of injuries, while on a trip to participate at the bi-annual Police Games 2022 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

They were en route to represent Zone 15 of the police formations, comprising Borno and Yobe commands.

ASP Sani Kamilu Shatambaya, police spokesman in Borno, in a statement released to newsmen Monday disclosed the incident, adding that the command is in grief.

‘The personnel who lost their lives and injured victims were conveyed back to Maiduguri.

‘Befitting burial was conducted and the injured are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals in Maiduguri, and also promised to link up with the remaining participants in Uyo on Wednesday,’ he noted.

Their names are given as Constable Godiya and Constable Kubra; however the date of incident was not disclosed.

CP Abdu Umar, commissioner of police in the state who led a delegation of personnel from the command commiserated with the families of the deceased officers.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and a quick recovery for the wounded victims.

He urged their families to bear the irreparable loss in good faith and continue to pray for their eternal peace.

Similarly, the CP prayed for those who proceeded with the journey to partake in the competition successfully and return to their commands and families safely.
