ASUU shuts down public varsities as nationwide strike commences

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has, after extended deliberations, declared a nationwide strike following the Federal Government’s lack of ability to put into effect preceding agreements.

The strike was declared on Monday in the course of a press convention addressed by means of the President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke.

According to ASUU National President, the strike will be “comprehensive and total”.

He, however, stated the industrial motion would final for the length of 4 weeks to allow the Federal Government to make changes.

The ASUU President vowed that the union would embark on an indefinite strike if their needs are not met within one month.

Recall that ASUU had in the last week, sensitized and mobilized lecturers and college students throughout all universities on the purpose the union is taking such action.
