The Nigerian Police Force have acquired five high-powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to improve surveillance operations and to defeat criminal activities in the country.
CSP. Olumuyiwa Adejobi said that the acquisition is the discovery of IGP Baba’s will to build in the use of Innovative Technology in the law enforcement duties of the Nigerian Police Force. He also said the droned will help in monitoring criminal activities, coordinating operations and providing aerial support to officers.
He said, the UAVs will be operated by police pilots from the Nigerian Police Airwing who have undergone training from Engineers of Elistair Company.
IGP Usman Alkali Baba, ordered the immidiate deployment of the drones to areas with high security challenges, for monitoring and intelligence gathering to curb criminal activities.
He speaks on the strong determination of the Police Leadership to continue to explore avenues to enhance police intelligence gathering capabilities and engage the application of cutting-edge technology in the fight against crime and criminality while seeking full corporation from members of the public on intelligence gathering and vigilance.
