Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has banned the ferrying of building materials from the state across border communities to neighboring countries.

The governor described transferring of such materials across the international borderlines as contributing to the surge in the prices of building material

He asked all security agencies to intensify surveillance and stop trucks from movement of all building materials to neighboring countries.

it was reported that Adamawa State has an extensive borderline with Cameroon, and the belief is widely held that commodities, including building materials such as cement, roofing sheets and so on, which are usually brought in for markets in Adamawa are transferred instead to Cameroon and other neighbouring countries where dealers reportedly make more money.

Governor Fintiri warned in a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou that government will not hesitate to impound vehicles conveying such items across the border and prosecute offenders.

”Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who expressed concern over the activities of the unpatriotic Nigerians urged the public to assist security agencies in combating the menace,” the statement said.
