The University of Maiduguri said it is not planning to increase certificate collection fee as widely reported in the media.

Prof. Mohammed Laminu Mele, the deputy vice chancellor of the institution made the clarification to our reporter, describing it as a fake news.

The rumor which has been going round on social since yesterday generated huge reactions mostly alumni who are yet to collect their certificates.

According to the rumor, any individual who didn’t collect his certificate within this week will be charged the sum of N50, 000 instead of N15, 000, the normal charges.

‘This is to inform all the ex-student of university of maiduguri that any former student who have not collected his certificate should do it this week. By next week the collection will be #50,000. Do notify friends. Thanks,’ the rumor making round read.

MAIDAWAAREWA Learnt that, the DVC said there is no any circular to that effect and the university has no any plan for such increment, ‘at least not this year,’ the DVC said.

He added that the fake news should be disregarded as the certificate collection fee still remains N15, 000.
