Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, has revealed why he did not visit Mrs Beatrice Itubo, the Party’s gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State, saying he was unaware she was sick.

Recall that Obi had visited Rivers State at the invitation of Governor Nyesom Wike on Thursday to commission the Nkpolu Oroworukwo flyover in Port Harcourt.

MAIDAWAAREWA reported that Obi pledged to support the PDP gubernatorial candidate, while Wike would support his presidential bid.

“I will talk to my people, and we will negotiate. If we leave the State (governor) for Wike, he will leave the centre (presidency) for us. We will negotiate it,” he said.

However, Reno Omokri, an ally of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had responded, saying that Obi only cares about himself and not the Labour Party.

Meanwhile, Obi has come out to say he was unaware of Mrs Itubo’s sickness.

He disclosed this on his verified Twitter handle on Saturday.

He wrote, “My sincere apologies to Mrs Beatrice Itubo, the Labour Party candidate in Rivers State, for an inadvertent oversight. When I visited Port Harcourt a few days back, I was not informed or aware of her sickness.

“No one mentioned that our candidate was sick; otherwise, I would have visited her before or after the event. I had committed to passing through the campaign office no matter how late, and that I did at about 6.30 pm. My dear sister, I sincerely wish you a very quick recovery and reassure you of our good working relationship. May God Almighty bless you always.”
