The legislators stressed that if the bill is assented to by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and becomes law, it will promote accountability and transparency and generally address financial crimes.

The bill, entitled ‘A Bill for a Law to Provide for the Establishment of the Adamawa State Anti-Corruption Commission’, was floated by Hon. Abubakar Isa, the lawmaker representing Shelleng Constituency.

The passage on Monday followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the Committee on Judiciary and Entrepreneurship Development, headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo, the lawmaker from the Numan Constituency.

After the passage of the bill, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, directed the clerk of the Assembly to prepare a clean copy for Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s consideration.
