The Yobe State Government has inaugurated four modern sesame seed processing factories to boost economic activities and create jobs across the state.

Abdullahi Bego, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information, and Culture, made this announcement during a press briefing in Damaturu, following a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni.

According to him, the factories, located in Machina, Nguru, Potiskum, and Damaturu local government areas, are part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance the agricultural value chain and socioeconomic development in the state.

He said, “These factories will not only clean, process, and package sesame seeds to meet international standards but also generate employment opportunities for thousands of Yobe residents.”

In addition to the sesame factories, the Commissioner provided updates on other key infrastructure projects across the state.

He disclosed that the Potiskum Modern Market and the Ngalda and Yunusari markets are at 90% completion, while the Geidam Modern Market is 75% complete.

He further assured that the long-delayed Potiskum Truck Transit Park project is also progressing, with 90% of the work done.

“These projects revealed the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises to the people. Despite earlier challenges, we are determined to complete and commission these legacy projects within the year,” Bego said.
