Troops of operation Hadin Kai have reportedly killed six Boko Haram insurgents.

The insurgents were said to have been killed in an ambush.

According to Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the troops, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) conducted the ambush on Tuesday in Kayamla village near Maiduguri, the state capital.

The paper quoted a source saying “the marauding terrorists were those fleeing from the recent massive military onslaught on Boko Haram enclaves.”

The source reportedly said that the insurgents usually come to the village to terrorise farmers and sometimes kidnap them for ransom.

He said the troops had intensified their offensives against the terrorists and their collaborators.

This development comes days after insurgents of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) reportedly buried 26 of its members in Ngala LGA of Borno.

Maidawaarewa also learnt that about 79,000 combatants and non-combatants Boko Haram terrorists have so far surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai at various locations within the theatre, that the ISWAP members were killed on September 9 by coordinated air strikes carried out by the Nigerian military.

The strikes were said to have been conducted on two camps of the insurgents in Yarwa Kuwa and Sigir areas in Borno.

In recent weeks, the military, with its operation Desert Sanity, has continued to intensify efforts in fighting the insurgents.
