President International Parliament for Safety, Peace and Justice Cardinal Professor Esapa Sona Joseph Dominion has declared Kano State as the most peaceful in Nigeria.

He said his group came from Cameroon to celebrate this year’s Peace Day in Kano because of its enduring peace and tranquility.

He spoke at the United Nations International Peace Day 2022 with the theme: “End Racism: Build Peace” hosted by the state government at the Bayero University Kano.

Joseph said peace is the backbone of every healthier and stable society.

The group’s president said the UN is the first to take the issue of peace very serious having designated the 21st September of every year as Peace Day.

In his remarks, the director-general in charge of North West Zone Peace Ambassador, Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago, said the choice of Kano is deliberate due to its peaceful nature.

“The parliament also decided to give an award to all the security operatives in the state and the state government for its foresight in maintaining peace at all levels,” he said.

On his part, one of the guest speakers, Professor Sani Lawal Malumfashi said Nigeria is facing multi- dimensional problems ranging from abject poverty to social insecurity such as kidnapping, banditry and insurgency among others.
