The Chairman of the Taraba State Staff Payroll Verification Committee, Haruna Abubakar Abdulkadir, has admitted that the report earlier submitted to the State Government contained errors, particularly regarding the inclusion of serving and retired High Court judges among staff allegedly not paid.
Speaking to journalists at the Government House in Jalingo, Abdulkadir clarified that no High Court judge—serving or retired—was featured on the verified list of unpaid staff, contrary to the earlier impression created by the committee’s report.
He expressed regret over the mix-up, explaining that the confusion arose after some individuals claimed they had not received payments, leading to the mistaken assumption that judges were affected.
“High Court judges are not receiving double salaries, as insinuated. Their only entitlement from the State Government is a rent allowance. The earlier inclusion of their names stemmed from a misunderstanding, and we sincerely apologise to the judges and the government for the inconvenience this has caused,” he said.
The Chairman added that the Committee is currently finalising its findings and will submit a corrected and comprehensive report to the Governor in due course.
