In recognition of his outstanding efforts in promoting peace and development in Borno State, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum was decorated with the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) fellowship on Monday. The ceremony took place at the Government House in Maiduguri, with SPSP President Nathaniel Msen Awuapila and Professor Isaac Oluwale Albert, representing the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, performing the decoration.

Governor Zulum expressed his gratitude for the honor and assured his commitment to partnering with the society to achieve sustainable peace and development in the region. He highlighted the positive results of the non-kinetic measures adopted by the government, including the surrender of over 200,000 repentant insurgents and their families.

The Society for Peace Studies and Practice has announced plans to commission a study on Governor Zulum’s positive impact on peacebuilding and development in Borno State. SPSP President Nathaniel Msen Awuapila praised Governor Zulum as a model in post-conflict reconstruction, managing post-conflict societies, peacebuilding, and development.

Professor Albert commended Governor Zulum for his laudable projects executed across parts of Borno, stating that the SPSP is proud to associate with his achievements. Governor Zulum is a fellow of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers, and Nigerian Institute of Architects.
